Psalm
18:30,32,33,35 (NIV)
As for God, His
way is perfect:
The Lord’s word is flawless: He shields all who take refuge in
Him. It is God who arms me with
strength
and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a
deer; He causes me to stand on the heights. You make Your saving help my
shield,
and Your right hand sustains me; Your help has made me great.
Are you able to
affirm today these praises from David about what the Lord did for Him that He
has also done for you? Has He answered a
significant prayer for you lately where you need to shout out these words? Ask yourself these other questions right now:
·
Do you
agree that God’s way is perfect compared to your way apart from Him? Meditate on Isaiah 55:8-9.
·
Do you
see that the Lord’s word is flawless?
Meditate on Psalm 119:105
·
Has He
shielded you from various attacks from the flesh (ie. sexual temptation, people
who want to hurt you physically or spiritually), worldly temptation (ie. greed,
lust for power at the expense of others) and from Satan himself (ie telling you
that you are no good, telling you that it’s OK to submit to an addiction) after
you took refuge in Him? Meditate on
Psalm 23.
·
Do you
feel God’s strength as He has kept your way secure? Meditate on Psalm 23 again plus Isaiah 40:31
and Isaiah 41:10.
·
Has He
made your feet like the feet of the deer and caused you to stand on the
heights? Exactly what do these similes
mean to you? Meditate on Ephesians 3:20
·
How has
God been the shield of your life? What
does a shield do? Meditate on Ephesians
6:10-18.
·
How has
God’s right hand sustained you? Meditate
on Isaiah 41:10 and further explanation below.
·
When you
have received God’s help in the form of answered prayer, haven’t you felt
great? Meditate on Lamentations
3:22-23.
Hundreds of verses of Scripture use the phrase “right
hand”, e.g. the right hand of God (Psalm 16:8, Psalm 20:6, Psalm 77:10, Psalm
98:1, Isa 41:10, Isa 62:8, many others) and Jesus seated at the right hand of
God in heaven (Matt 26:64, Mark 16:19, Acts
2:32-34, Acts 7:55-56, Rom 8:34, Eph 1:19-21, Heb 10:12, many others), The right hand of God communicates honor,
exaltation, and power. It is interesting
that the Bible never refers to the left hand of God. The Hebrew word for “right” means “stronger,
more dexterous” while the Hebrew word for “left” means “dark”. The right hand
of God is strong and dexterous, able to do all things. Left hand is never used in reference to God
because left biblically is very negative.
Jesus said in Matt 25:31-46 that His sheep will be on His right, but the
goats on His left. Those on His left
will be cursed and separated forever from the Lord. Ecclesiastes 10:2 says, “The heart of the
wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left”.
All these promises of God, how wonderful they are and how
true they are to those who believe in His ability to be faithful to His
promises. May your faith be strengthened
and your heart be encouraged as you spend time thinking about these truths and
meditating on all the other Scriptures associated with these promises. May all these promises shine upon your
problems and give you hope, rest, and peace.
